Mekong Delta Tours / Bassac Specical Cruise – Overview

Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) – Cai Be – Tra On (Mekong Delta) – Can Tho – Ho Chi Minh City

The Mekong Delta, or the ‘Nine Dragon River Delta’, is the vast region in Southeast Vietnam where the Mekong River approaches and empties into the sea. Encompassing almost 40,000 square kilometers of Southeastern Vietnam, the Mekong Delta region is abundant with water, fruit orchards, and most importantly, rice fields. It produces about half of Vietnam‘s agricultural output and is the best place to experience the timeless scenery of farmers planting and harvesting rice.

On this overnight tour, cruise from Cai Be to Can Tho (or reverse). Travel and stay aboard the converted traditional wooden rice barge ‘The Bassac’ for as you leisurely explore the Mekong Delta. The boat’s well-equipped cabins, complete with air-conditioning and en-suite bathrooms, and attentive staff provide you with all the necessary comforts. The boat is entirely built of wood with the hull made from go sao, a now rare wood traditionally used for building quality ships. With a large restaurant, galley and upper deck, there is plenty of space to relax and enjoy the laid back rhythms of the Mekong Delta.
